What Is the Anti-Diet?

Woman holding a scale and giving a thumbs upWhat’s the worst part about dieting? Giving up the foods you love. But what if we told you that depriving yourself of your favorite foods is the wrong way to diet? Kelsey Miller, founder of the Anti-Diet Project, has been spreading this message since the start of her franchise at the end of 2015. Over the past year, the Anti-Diet has grown in popularity and is predicted to surpass other well-known plans in 2017. So, what is the Anti-Diet Project?

A Holistic and Realistic Diet Plan

The message behind the Anti-Diet is to not let food control you. Rather, be in control of your food! Many diets fail because of too many restrictions: no carbs, no sugar, no meat, etc. On the Anti-Diet, you’re urged to consider moderation over elimination. A healthy relationship with food does not involve cutting calories to a dangerous low. On the other hand, it’s also not the best idea to eat whatever you want, whenever you want. The key to the Anti-Diet is to eat what makes your body feel good. Do you like fresh fruits? Great! Try to include a serving of fruit in each meal. But if you also love cupcakes, go ahead and have one – not three.

Body Nourishment and Mind Empowerment

Being on a diet can be stressful. When certain food groups are restricted, it makes you crave them more! Rather than having an anxiety attack over eating a piece of chocolate, approach food with a new attitude. It’s fine to eat a square of chocolate as long as you’re balancing your diet with fruits, vegetables and protein. In 2017 more than ever, we should be empowering each other! When your body image is positive, what you eat doesn’t matter as much.

As we always say, diet is only one piece of the weight loss puzzle; exercise is the other! To get started on your journey to a new you, explore your membership options with North Haven Health & Racquet today.
